Abstract:
This report discusses the results of an environmental monitoring project conducted from July 1990 to June 1991 of the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base and the surrounding estuary. Water quality of estuarine and surface runoff stations was determined quarterly and a series of shallow monitoring wells was sampled annually. Parameters included physical data, nutrients, demands and selected metals. Benthic infauna were examined at the estuarine stations semiannually and tissues of hard clams were analyzed to evaluate the bioaccumulation of selected metals and organics.
