Abstract

Potent neurotoxins produced by the Florida red tide causes massive fish kills, contaminate shellfish and cause severe irritation to the respiratory system of people exposed to toxin-containing marine aerosol. The 1997-98 study focuses red tide research efforts on toxin distribution in water, air and marine organisms and on toxin effects on marine animals. Florida DEP Contract MR 217.
