Abstract:
This report describes activities though the second year of the grant, from initiation of July 24, 2004 through May 31, 2005. This is a continuing cooperative research program between Mote and Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) to undertake specific areas of red tide research that are of critical concern to the State of Florida, in cooperation with other on-going red tide initiatives. The project includes four major areas of research with specific objectives defined for each; red tide monitoring, biotoxin effects on ecological and human health, development and implementation of new technologies for red tide detection and mitigation, and public information and education.
