Abstract:
Potent neurotoxins produced by red tide cause massive fish kills, contaminate shellfish, and cause severe irritation to the respiratory system of people exposed to toxin-containing marine aerosol. An extensive red tide bloom provided the opportunity for Mote scientists to investigate bloom dynamics, toxin production and pigment content in conjunction with natural field conditions.
