Mote Marine Laboratory developed the City Island Habitat Restoration project in an effort to address the problem of habitat loss in Sarasota Bay. The project construction and initial revegetation was completed in December 1990. One of the most important aspects of this project was the potential contribution to Sarasota Bay fisheries through production of fish and other organisms. Therefore, this project included a monitoring component which was designed to assess the productivity of this project with regard to fish and important invertebrates, and at the same time, to obtain information about how future habitat restoration projects can be designed to increase their value in terms of fishery productivity. This report describes the monitoring component of the project. |
