dc.description.abstract In view of Mote Marine Laboratory's continuing involvement and interest in the environmental affairs of Southwest Florida , the Laboratory has undertaken an investigation of the environmental status of Sarasota Bay. This report comprises several studies (many are still continuing ) initiated in 1979, funded through the generous support of the William G. Selby and Marie Selby Foundation of Sarasota, Florida. The marine studies contained herein were conducted with the intention of providing baseline information, which will have potential use in aiding long-range planning and resource management of the systems affected by man's activities in, adjacent to, and surrounding Sarasota Bay. en_US
