dc.description.abstract This report presents 1989 sighting data from aerial surveys for manatees from Anna Maria Sound to northern Charlotte Harbor, including the Myakka River, Florida. The work is a continuation of manatee population studies conducted by Mote Marine Laboratory since 1985. The project objectives are to determine the distribution and habitat requirements for manatees with specific goals to identify if preferred areas exist, determine variability in preferred site usage, and to monitor variability and identify habitat preference determinants. en_US
