dc.description.abstract As part of an attempt to understand the migration and stock identity of mackerel in the Gulf of Mexico, a study was done to report historical landings data and other pertinent information, obtain specimens for electrophoresis and tag king and Spanish mackerel at specific Mexican locations. These locations were chosen so that the tagging effort correspond with mackerel migration patterns off Mexico. Tagging efforts were concentrated off Yucatan in the winter, Veracruz in the spring, Tamaulipas in the summer and again off Veracruz in the fall. This report outlines Mote Marine Laboratory's efforts, difficulties and success in achieving the above-mentioned goals. en_US
