dc.description.abstract This paper summarizes Quarter VI (October 1 - December 31, 1996) report on the Cobia Stock Assessment Study in the Gulf of Mexico. This study was undertaken as part of an attempt to understand the stock identity of the cobia in the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic, with a goal to determine age and growth information, develop an age/length key and obtain data on reproduction of cobia captured off the southeastern coast of the United States from North Carolina to the Florida Keys and in the Gulf of Mexico from the Florida Gulf Coast to the coast of Texas. This report outlines Mote Marine Laboratory's success in achieving these goals.
