dc.description.abstract This letter is part of the correspondence between the Bass Biological Laboratory and various political and governmental figures, particularly at the United States Bureau of Fisheries. These letters include the exchange of data, materials, and information on biological subjects and problems during the 1930s. This letter to John F. Bass Jr. discusses Bass' interest in studying marine biology and ideas for getting the Bass lab started. Higgins discusses ways to assist Bass in starting the program for the laboratory as well as beginning an outline of species present at the lab site. The letter also discusses the possibility of Higgins or a graduate student providing information and instruction in the field for Bass himself to build on his courses in zoology. en_US
