Abstract:
A summary of marine turtle monitoring of the Venice shoreline for the year 2005, the first year of the Venice Beach renourishment project. Turtles accessing the beach were obstructed by rocks, escarpments, narrow beaches, etc. Non-nesting emergences were higher than nesting emergences, indicating lack of nesting suitability. Beach nourishment affects the physical properties of beach sediments which influences incubation rates. Predation problems were also listed.
