This item is part of a series of photographs donated by the Bass family. The photographs include images from 1931 through 1933 as the Bass property was being developed. These images provide a valuable look at the Bass property as the buildings and structures went up that would become the Bass Biological Laboratory. Also included in these photographs are rare images of local workers, friends of the Bass family, and visitors to the area. This image features a popular method for obtaining or hunting alligators in the early twentieth century, known as 'alligator digging.' The man in the background may be an individual previously identified as 'Hein,' but this is unconfirmed. |
