Abstract:
This item is part of a series of photographs donated by the Bass family. The photographs include images from 1931 through 1933 as the Bass property was being developed. These images provide a valuable look at the Bass property as the buildings and structures went up that would become the Bass Biological Laboratory. Also included in these photographs are rare images of local workers, friends of the Bass family, and visitors to the area. This image features two women and a man in costume. One woman seems to be dressed as a pirate and the other woman (most likely Else Bass) is wearing a grass skirt and lei with a small instrument. The man, most likely Claude B. Hazen, or 'Bob,' appears to be dressed as a caveman and is holding an object resembling a bone.
