dc.description.abstract This item is part of a series of letters, telegrams, and notes relating to people who came to do research at the Bass lab. The Bass Biological Laboratory was a fully functioning research laboratory as well as a biological collecting and field station. The lab was located in Englewood, Florida, and operated during the 1930s and 1940s. This item is part of the correspondence between people affiliated with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (previously known as the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory), Massachusetts, and John F. Bass Jr. This telegram is addressed to James McInnes, and the storm mentioned might the category 1 hurricane on September 18 of 1936 or the Great New England Hurricane (Also known as the 'Long Island Express storm") in September of 1938. en
