Abstract:
Results of a cooperative project between Mote Marine Laboratory and the State of Florida, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Wildlife Research Institute to determine the factors that control the initiation and development of harmful algal blooms, specifically the Florida red tide (Karenia brevis) along the Florida Gulf coast; to assess the effects of red tide on coastal resources and public health; and to investigate methods for mitigation and control.
