dc.description.abstract As part of its mission to provide the technical information NMFS requires to understand the status of shark fishery resources, the Center for Shark Research at Mote Marine Laboratory initiated a long-term research program in November 1991 on the early life history of coastal sharks inhabiting the Gulf of Mexico. This program is designed to utilize field surveys, animal collections, and tagging and tracking studies to discover the distribution of shark nursery areas of the Gulf, the biology of juvenile sharks in those nurseries, and the migratory patterns of fisheries-relevant shark species. en
