Abstract:
Cooperative research between Mote Marine Laboratory's Center for Shark Research, NOAA/NMFS Southeast Fisheries Science Center and commercial and recreational fishermen in Florida, South Carolina and Lousiana was conducted between Sept. 2001 and Dec. 2003. The research covered the life history, movement patterns, reproduction and population dynamics of several species of shark and one endangered ray species. Methods included conventional and archival tagging, acoustic and satellite telemetry, habitat characterization, and specimen collection and dissection.
