This leg of the expedition was led by two groups of scientists from Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution. The first group searched for previously undiscovered compounds in marine organisms that could help fight human diseases. Samples were primarily collected from sponges and octocorals. The second project focused on bioluminescence and bottom-dwelling organisms. |
