This report describes the results of a project that was undertaken to assess the impact of temephos on larvae and juveniles of nontarget saltmarsh organisms, encompassing a 15 months period from July 1, 1989 to September 30, 1990. Five field applications of temephos were monitored during this study, with two additional field studies performed in the absence of temephos as field controls. The persistence and distribution of temephos were investigated to assess the intensity and duration of larvicide exposure. Concentrations in water, mangrove leaves and body burdens of various organisms were monitored over time and space. The field study area was the St. Jude saltmarsh to the east of St. James City at the southeastern end of Pine Island in Lee County, Florida. |
