Abstract:
This report describes the results of an investigation that was undertaken to assess the distribution and persistence of the mosquito larvicides, Abate (temphos) and Altosid (methoprene), in mangrove-saltmarsh communities, bioconcentration in select invertebrates, acute toxicity to a representative invertebrate and a survey of avian species to identify which species may be potentially at risk from larvicide application in saltmarsh ecosystems. This report encompasses activities from April 1, 1988 through June 30, 1989 with field surveys performed on Pine Island, located in Lee County, Florida.
