dc.description.abstract	This report describes a project with a goal to collect data that would add to the current statistical data base on the level and condition of the billfish by-catch in the swordfish/tuna fishery. Sampling was concentrated in an area of known billfish abundance, the Caribbean Sea. There is a need for increasing the understanding of the condition of the billfish stock and the current information has been recognized as inadequate for stock assessment. The data collected will aid in developing a larger, more accurate data base and ultimately contribute to a long-term biologically sound management strategy.	en
